A new Perkins Family

Well this year James and I are making several new changes to our lives. James made one all on his own, to become a better guitar player. He's so cute!

So far I am doing really well with them. I decided to tell you all so that way you can keep me countable for them so here goes...
1. Be more of a Godly man and woman and show our children how much God means to me
2. Don't be afraid to share our faith with others
3. exercise (doing good on that one. I work out with my friend Kelly almost every morning before anyone is up)
4. eat better (this is a hard one!)
5. don't use the credit card (this ones for me. James hates that)
6. Show my kids how to give back to the community
7. spend more one on one time with the kids
8. Respect my husband more and question him less (again for me)

Some of these might seem silly to you all but in this part of our life we feel there needs to be a change in the Perkins home. James and I have a great relationship but it can always get better. I want my children to see a loving christian couple that one day they want to be and have. God has blessed us with these wonderful children and other peoples kids I can't help but think how do I give back. It is simple, by teaching them about him and his word. Everyday will be a fresh start at this and I know that we can make these changes.

I hope that whatever you have wished to change or make better this year works out for you. Just remember that everyday is a new beginning and if you don't achieve what you want that day try again the next. You can't fail and try at the same time :)

One more thing our family makes decisions based on what we feel God wants from us not on what others think. Remember that when people tell you about choices they are making and you fell they are the wrong ones. They might just want to share and not have all the negative comments that come with it. Just some friendly advise.

News Year Eve

Today we are just staying home and having our friends Kelly and her two kids come over. Both of our husband have to work tonight so figured we would just hang out. I also had my grandson little Anthony and granddaughter Naiona for the night. So we decided to take the kids to McDonald's to play and so we could eat there one more time before our diet started.

Then we came home and camped on our family room floor. It was a full house. It was so cute to see everyone camped on the floor. I fell asleep around 10:00. I never can make it to midnight, well that night anyway, other nights I can stay up til 1. I just don't understand that?

Anyway, we have so much to be thankful for this past year. I have a wonderful husband, great kids, I get to stay at home and be with my kids, our basement got finished, new friends were made, James band getting together and much more. I hope that 2010 is the same way. I hope that all of you have a very wonderful and Blessed 2010. Take a few minutes to remember what is really important and just brush off the things that aren't it will make your year that much better.

Here are two bible verses I really like to remember "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and "this to shall pass". Two great verses when you are trying to be patient with your children :) Happy New Year!

Christmas Day

This morning the kids got up at 3:00 am! They came running into our room saying "they ate the food". I was like that's nice now go back to bed. Thankfully they said ok and went. They tried this again at 8:30 am and were successful. We all got up and ran downstairs to see what had been left. This year the kids got 3 gift each and 1 gift from Santa. This year we also had the kids open their presents one at a time, so we could all see what everyone got and so nothing got lost in all the wrapping paper that goes flying. They did so well with this! I think the biggest hits were the MP3 players the boys got and Santa brought everyone a new camera.

While all the kids were playing with their new toys I went to prepare breakfast. We ate on special Christmas plates and had fancy cups to drink from. All the kids even sat at the table! It is hard for Brendyn to sit at the table do to the noise level. We sat around the table and talked about what Christmas was really about.. the birth of Jesus. WE also talked about what was our favorite part of Christmas this year and they all said the same thing, being able to stay at home. We were also sad that we didn't get to go to my parents like we do every year but this year we decided as a family to stay home.

After breakfast it was back to playing for the kids and cleaning for me. When I was done we played games and watched Alyssa's new movie The Hannah Montana Movie. After that we all got ready to go to Amy's house.

Around 3 we went to Amy and Anthony's house to spend a little time with them. Amy and Stacy were our first foster placement we had. They are both own their own and doing well. Amy and Anthony have a little boy named Anthony jr. but they call him little Anthony(he will be 2 in feb). Stacy also came over and brought her two kids Naoina(17 months) and Duran (3.5 months). I am so excited because they have asked me to be their kids grandma!! So the kids now call me mema. It is sooo cute.

After a couple hours we decided to go out to dinner. This is something I have never done on Christmas. James took us to a place called Georges. It was good and there was hardly anyone there so that was nice. After dinner James surprised the kids by taking them to see the new chipmunk movie. It was Packed!!! I couldn't believe it. They say that Christmas is the busiest day of the year. The movie was cute and the kids had a great time. It turned out to be a wonderful day for our family. We weren't rushed and had no specific plans, just did what felt right at the time.

I hope that everyone else had a wonderful Christmas like our family did. And remember to take a few minutes to remember what it is all about.....JESUS!

Christmas Eve

This was the first year that James had off Christmas eve and Christmas Day. We were all so excited. This is also the first year we are going to make our own family traditions.

This morning the kids watched t.v. and I finished wrapping presents (nothing like the last minute). When I was done with that Miranda and I made snack foods for the family. We then all went downstairs to the "man cave" and ate while watching Christmas movies. Today was so relaxing, something we hardly ever get to do. We had no cares we were just spending time together as a family.

As we were setting downstairs watching t.v. the door bell rang. The kids ran upstairs and opened the door to see... presents from Ms. Santa. They were so excited! They hurried in to see what she had brought them. They all got a new pair of pajamas. This is something my parents did with me and my sisters. I really liked it so we are caring on the family tradition. That way when they get up in the morning they have brand new pajamas and will look half descent for pictures :) After another movie the kids were ready to go to bed. They sat food out for Ms. Santa, Santa, and the reindeer, then headed off to bed.

After the kids went to bed James and I watched a couple of Christmas movies together. James is not a big Christmas fan so for him to sit through 2 Christmas movies says a lot about how much he loves me...how sweet. After the movies it was off to bed so that Santa could come and do his thing. Well not before Mr. and Ms. Santa had there snack. Santa got oreos this year and Ms. Santa got puppy chow.

I unfortunately do not have an pictures do to the fact that my memory card doesn't want to work any more. I will go get a new one soon so we can put up our wonderful pics.

Today is also my sister, Noelle's Birthday so.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! We hope you had a wonderful Birthday.
