Well today was Alyssa's and Joshua's doctors appointments. Joshua went first. We went in and started talking, then she asked for our paper work. I said "I gave it to the front desk". She went out to look for it and no one could find it. I thought great now I have to do that all over again. Finally they realized she had put Joshua's paper work on Alyssa's chart. Now that she was back we went over a few more things. Then it was time to talk with Joshua. He ignored her and continued playing. She tried to get on the floor and play with him still no response. I thought well at least she is seeing the real him. Finally she got his attention buy asking him to play the face game. He named them all correctly happy, sad, uh-uh, and angry. He laughed when he saw the angry face. Joshua then told the doctor that he never got mad and never hit or screamed. It took all I had not to laugh. She said it was normal for kids to say that. So in the end Joshua was diagnosed with ADHD and a tick disorder. She also gave us a different sleeping med to try. So hopefully tonight we will all sleep well.
We then went to lunch at Burger King so the kids could play. After that we headed back to the doctor for Alyssa's appointment.
Alyssa had a different doctor and we discussed about school, behaviors, and not sleeping. Since Alyssa has already be diagnosed with ADHS we changed her meds and are putting her on a different sleep med also. This girl can stay up later than my teenagers. Last weekend she was up until 3 am on Friday and 1 am on Saturday. When she sleeps with the teens they usually have to tell her it is time to sleep. I don't know how she does it. I hope she can still do that when she has kids. It will be a blessing then, now it just makes me really tired.
Well I don't care to medicate my children but I think it is time. I hope that the meds work really well for them, and that they can sleep better at night. Plus they should be able to handle being in public and slow down a bit to with the ADHD meds. Hope everyone sleeps well tonight. Sweet Dreams!!!!

New Eyes
So on Wen. we went to Jeff city to a eye doctor my entire family goes to. They fitted me for contacts and I got a trial pair to take home. I am getting used to them and my new prescription. Brendyn really likes to watch me put them in and take out because he has been watching Monsters Inc. lately and there is a part where mike maszowski (?) puts in a contact. The first time he watched me I took forever to do it so he put his finger out and said "my turn". It was so cute.
I think the first time taking them out it took me 45 min. In the morning it took about 30min to get them in. The right eye went in well but the left wasn't working. After trying several times it fell out of my hand. SO I had to call James to help me look for it. We looked everywhere and eventually found it stuck to the mirror. Today it only took about 5 min all together. Then when I was taking with James I blinked and one fell out and was hanging on my eyelid. O well it is getting easier and hopefully tonight wont take to long.
I also got my pantry finished and we love it. It fits all my food, shoes and coats for the kids. And there is room for my walking machine one day. I know walking in a room filled with food?!

Messed up doctors apponintment and New Pantry
Today started out with having to wake everyone up and get them ready for a doctors appointment. Remember my kids are not used to getting up by 7:00a.m. Well Joshua had an accident so I had to give him a bath, Brendyn didn't want to get dressed and the transport for Heather was 15min late. So I was 15min behind now (at least) and had to rush to get the boys to Amy's house so she could babysit for me. Miranda, Alyssa and me headed to the appointment.
We get there with 5 min to spare. Even after driving behind a man that was going 25 miles under the speed limit. I got Alyssa signed in and started the paper work. The called us back and said "you where here last month?" I was like "no this is our first appointment with you all". They looked confused. I could tell where this was going. They then had to go check on what was going on. They scheduled us for a 30min app. but we needed almost 2hrs for a new patient. So they had to reschedule on Friday when Joshua has an appointment. That will be a very long day for us! Please pray for us. (They are being seen for sleeping problems and ADHD). So after that I ran a few errands and picked up the boys.
When we got home Nick, the contractor had the wall up for the pantry and was ready to put the door in. We talked about what I wanted for the room and tomorrow he will try to finish it. He is making shelves that I want and putting in a homemade shoe compartment. I am really excited about this. It's funny how things change the older you get. It was supposed to be my "woman cave" but I decided to have a bigger pantry and somewhere for all our shoes. The room is right off the garage so it will be perfect to both. One day I will have my screened in porch and that will be my room. Hopefully I can get the memory card working so you all can see my "woman cave". :)

Lost Keys
First off Joshua picked the picture at the top. My memory card still wont work!! So frustrating!
Well on Sunday after James left town I decided to go to the mall. Which meant I had 6 little ones and 2 teens with me. (I had Sabrinas kids for the weekend) What was I thinking?! It started off pretty good. I went and picked somethings out for James and Alan for summer. JC Pennys had some of there stuff 75% off. James got a pair of Tiger khaki shorts for 4.95, several t-shirts for $2.00-$4.00 dollars can't bet that! The kids even helped pick out some shirts they thought daddy would like. Then it all started... "I have to go to the bathroom", "I'm hungry", "I'm thirsty", "are we done yet?". Then the tag game began. Thankfully I had some certs in my purse so I pulled them out. They all sat on the floor and ate them when they were gone it was time to move on.
We then headed down to the food court. They all wanted taco bell so that made it easy for me. While we were eating they all talked about how cool the carousel ride was and how they wanted to ride it. So after they ate all their food(maybe not the best time to put them on a ride that goes in circles) they received a token.
Next we decided to hit a couple of store, of course this was after we go strollers for 4 of them. We went to a few stores and by then we were all ready to go! Well, as we were getting ready to leave I went for my keys..... nowhere to be found. I ask Miranda if she still had them. She said "I told joshua to give them to you". So I then asked Joshua "do you have mommies key"? "No, I left them somewhere". Was what he said to me. We searched everywhere and I was to the point I called a friends and asked her to come get us. Then one of the workers from the store said I will take Joshua up stairs to look for the keys. At this point I was like sure that's fine. I know great parenting skills.
They come back empty handed. During this time of looking for keys and trying to keep the little ones in on spot I sent Miranda to search the other stores. Finally after 45 min of looking for them we found them in Dillards shoe dept. I will go Tuesday and get another key made because that is our only one for right now. It all turned out good but man was it a long day. I guess the point of my story is never give your kids the car keys. I'm sure you all are a lot smart than that :)

Happy Birthday Joshua!!
Well this week my baby turned 5. I can't believe how fast time goes by! On Monday we decided to take the family to Chuck e Cheeses for lunch. Joshua has been wanting to go really bad and for Christmas Great Grandma Gray gave each kid 100 tokes for there. That was a great gift, thanks so much!! We spent 3 hours there playing games and eating pizza and having special treats. I even got into playing the games. When we left Alyssa picked a necklace and ring with her tickets she won. Brendyn got a paint by numbers dinosaur, which he was really happy about. Joshua got a Ninga turtle, he is so into that movie right now. (Every night before bed he watches a little bit of that movie.)
Wed. was his actual birthday, because we had speech that day he decided to bring everyone donuts. Then after speech he got to pick where we had lunch. Where did he pick.....that's right McDonald's! James and I are so sick of that place but because it was his birthday we said nothing and just enjoyed watching them all play. That afternoon we went to the library and they got to check out books and one video each. They love going to the library. They also got computer time, which they really like because they have activities we don't have at home. When we were done there Joshua wanted spaghetti for dinner so I stopped by the store and got his favorite bread to go with it. Well we have to pass Pizza Hut on the way home and he said "mommy I changed my mind I want Pizza Hut". So I turned around and that is what we had for dinner. I am so glad his Birthday is over! I don't think I could stand eating out another meal.
For his Birthday he got a spiderman comforter, a picture frame that says future fireman(thats one of the things he wants to be when he grows up), a green tractor (because of the song) and a video camera. Instead of a cake he wanted cupcakes that had Thomas on them. Which surprised us because he doesn't really care for Thomas anymore. For His Birthday party next weekend he wants a spiderman cake. That sounds more like him. So he did pretty well I think. I will try to post pictures later because the computer still doesn't like my memory card. I also am writing in blue because that is his favorite color right now. Happy Birthday Joshua!!! We love you lots.
One more thing everyday now he says "I can do what ever I want because it's my Birthday". The first couple times it was funny now we just remind him that even on his Birthday he can't do what ever he wants. I can see why he says that because for that day he gets to make the decisions (small ones) and none of the other kids can say anything. Kids can be so funny.

Memories
I found this picture that we took last year at Christmas. O how I love trying to take family pictures. Miranda is behind me trying to get them happy so that she could get in too but that never happened. (The picture at the top of the blog)
Ready for SPRING!!
How many more days til spring? For the last two weeks we have had some kind of sickness in our home. The kids had the stomach flu last week and this week I have the worst sinus infection ever. I have gone to the doctors twice now and even had a shot in the bum, which was very painful! I get these a lot but never this bad. I was in bed for three days and still want to be there. James did take off from work and said he would again for me but I must get back in the game.
Last night around 12:30 we had to take Brendyn to the hospital because he wouldn't stop screaming and crying. Because he has little communication about what is wrong with him this is usually what happens. James and Brendyn arrived home around 3:30a.m. and Brendyn has an inner ear infection and an outer ear infection! Poor baby. He does really well with ear drops so they gave him some of those with anti-biotic which he will not take, but will at least put one drop in his mouth. That is a big improvement for him. So this morning I got up and took the kids to speech so daddy could sleep in.
Wow how much life changes when you have children! They don't ever tell you that you won't ever get time alone again(by yourself or with your husband), when your throwing up you still have to make dinner and give baths, kids will still scream and cry when you have a migraine, because they think it's funny when your eyes do that crazy thing. I can't remember the last time I got a shower to myself(or go to the bathroom)...wait I couldn't sleep Saturday night so around 3:30 a.m. I took one. OK so I can't remember when I got to take a shower during regular people hours. Or when a trip to the store should take only take 20min and ends up being an hour and a half because your child decided they really wanted that toy and because they can't have it is going to let the entire store know how they are feeling. Good times!
Even with all the craziness at times I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love being a mommy and a wife and I am already worried about my "empty nest" I will soon have. It seems silly to think about that but it will be here faster than what I want, then again my children are fighting so maybe it can't come soon enough :)
On another note at the end of the month I am getting my scrap booking room and walk in pantry!! I think I am more excited about the pantry. The builder we have been working with is great. He will also put in new closet doors upstairs and tear down the wall going upstairs and put in a just a rail with spindle's ( I think that's what they are called). I am hoping that way it might open the front entry way. Then we will get new carpet and repaint. After that we should be finished with the house. OK I was wrong we still need to build the screened in porch, but I think that will be next spring.
Anyway the kids tell me they are hungry so I better go feed them. I hope you all have a wonderful night!

One more try!
I want to have writing on the top and pictures down below. I can't get it to do that. So I am going to try one last time. OK I did it but I'm not sure how. I'm going to try it one more time. Thanks for your patience.
The kids at the pumkin farm. Brendyn, Miranda, Heather, Joshua, Andrew and Alyssa.
I can't figure out how I am doing this but I am tired now and want to take a nap. So see you all later.
Test #1 My grandkids
New Look
I am trying to change the look of my blog and see how everything works. So bare with me on a few bloggs that are trial runs. I changed the color and added a Picture at the top thast took for ever. Then I add one I didn't want a nd that took fo ever to get off. Anyway I will put some pictures on just for show.
Snow! Snow! Snow!
Well we finally got a good snow fall and all my kids are sick. Alyssa started it out then the rest fell right behind her. With three trips to the doctors office in one week I am really ready for spring! They are better but still have a terrible cough so I don't want them to go out. They are not very happy with me right now. So to make them feel better I said we could make snow ice cream today. I have never made this before so I hope that it turns out ok.
The kids have been in the house for 3 days straight. That is a long time for my kids. I really don't mind it. I have caught up on my laundry and had time to watch a few movies with them while they lay on the couch. I went to the doctor today and I have a sinus infection. So James is going to stay home today so I can try and get some sleep. I haven't had much the last three nights.
I had Miranda (there is no school today) take some picture for me of the snow. I hate not having a working camera. I hope you all stay warm and healthy.

A new Perkins Family
Well this year James and I are making several new changes to our lives. James made one all on his own, to become a better guitar player. He's so cute!
So far I am doing really well with them. I decided to tell you all so that way you can keep me countable for them so here goes...
1. Be more of a Godly man and woman and show our children how much God means to me
2. Don't be afraid to share our faith with others
3. exercise (doing good on that one. I work out with my friend Kelly almost every morning before anyone is up)
4. eat better (this is a hard one!)
5. don't use the credit card (this ones for me. James hates that)
6. Show my kids how to give back to the community
7. spend more one on one time with the kids
8. Respect my husband more and question him less (again for me)
Some of these might seem silly to you all but in this part of our life we feel there needs to be a change in the Perkins home. James and I have a great relationship but it can always get better. I want my children to see a loving christian couple that one day they want to be and have. God has blessed us with these wonderful children and other peoples kids I can't help but think how do I give back. It is simple, by teaching them about him and his word. Everyday will be a fresh start at this and I know that we can make these changes.
I hope that whatever you have wished to change or make better this year works out for you. Just remember that everyday is a new beginning and if you don't achieve what you want that day try again the next. You can't fail and try at the same time :)
One more thing our family makes decisions based on what we feel God wants from us not on what others think. Remember that when people tell you about choices they are making and you fell they are the wrong ones. They might just want to share and not have all the negative comments that come with it. Just some friendly advise.

News Year Eve
Today we are just staying home and having our friends Kelly and her two kids come over. Both of our husband have to work tonight so figured we would just hang out. I also had my grandson little Anthony and granddaughter Naiona for the night. So we decided to take the kids to McDonald's to play and so we could eat there one more time before our diet started.
Then we came home and camped on our family room floor. It was a full house. It was so cute to see everyone camped on the floor. I fell asleep around 10:00. I never can make it to midnight, well that night anyway, other nights I can stay up til 1. I just don't understand that?
Anyway, we have so much to be thankful for this past year. I have a wonderful husband, great kids, I get to stay at home and be with my kids, our basement got finished, new friends were made, James band getting together and much more. I hope that 2010 is the same way. I hope that all of you have a very wonderful and Blessed 2010. Take a few minutes to remember what is really important and just brush off the things that aren't it will make your year that much better.
Here are two bible verses I really like to remember "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and "this to shall pass". Two great verses when you are trying to be patient with your children :) Happy New Year!

Christmas Day
This morning the kids got up at 3:00 am! They came running into our room saying "they ate the food". I was like that's nice now go back to bed. Thankfully they said ok and went. They tried this again at 8:30 am and were successful. We all got up and ran downstairs to see what had been left. This year the kids got 3 gift each and 1 gift from Santa. This year we also had the kids open their presents one at a time, so we could all see what everyone got and so nothing got lost in all the wrapping paper that goes flying. They did so well with this! I think the biggest hits were the MP3 players the boys got and Santa brought everyone a new camera.
While all the kids were playing with their new toys I went to prepare breakfast. We ate on special Christmas plates and had fancy cups to drink from. All the kids even sat at the table! It is hard for Brendyn to sit at the table do to the noise level. We sat around the table and talked about what Christmas was really about.. the birth of Jesus. WE also talked about what was our favorite part of Christmas this year and they all said the same thing, being able to stay at home. We were also sad that we didn't get to go to my parents like we do every year but this year we decided as a family to stay home.
After breakfast it was back to playing for the kids and cleaning for me. When I was done we played games and watched Alyssa's new movie The Hannah Montana Movie. After that we all got ready to go to Amy's house.
Around 3 we went to Amy and Anthony's house to spend a little time with them. Amy and Stacy were our first foster placement we had. They are both own their own and doing well. Amy and Anthony have a little boy named Anthony jr. but they call him little Anthony(he will be 2 in feb). Stacy also came over and brought her two kids Naoina(17 months) and Duran (3.5 months). I am so excited because they have asked me to be their kids grandma!! So the kids now call me mema. It is sooo cute.
After a couple hours we decided to go out to dinner. This is something I have never done on Christmas. James took us to a place called Georges. It was good and there was hardly anyone there so that was nice. After dinner James surprised the kids by taking them to see the new chipmunk movie. It was Packed!!! I couldn't believe it. They say that Christmas is the busiest day of the year. The movie was cute and the kids had a great time. It turned out to be a wonderful day for our family. We weren't rushed and had no specific plans, just did what felt right at the time.
I hope that everyone else had a wonderful Christmas like our family did. And remember to take a few minutes to remember what it is all about.....JESUS!
Christmas Eve
This was the first year that James had off Christmas eve and Christmas Day. We were all so excited. This is also the first year we are going to make our own family traditions.
This morning the kids watched t.v. and I finished wrapping presents (nothing like the last minute). When I was done with that Miranda and I made snack foods for the family. We then all went downstairs to the "man cave" and ate while watching Christmas movies. Today was so relaxing, something we hardly ever get to do. We had no cares we were just spending time together as a family.
As we were setting downstairs watching t.v. the door bell rang. The kids ran upstairs and opened the door to see... presents from Ms. Santa. They were so excited! They hurried in to see what she had brought them. They all got a new pair of pajamas. This is something my parents did with me and my sisters. I really liked it so we are caring on the family tradition. That way when they get up in the morning they have brand new pajamas and will look half descent for pictures :) After another movie the kids were ready to go to bed. They sat food out for Ms. Santa, Santa, and the reindeer, then headed off to bed.
After the kids went to bed James and I watched a couple of Christmas movies together. James is not a big Christmas fan so for him to sit through 2 Christmas movies says a lot about how much he loves me...how sweet. After the movies it was off to bed so that Santa could come and do his thing. Well not before Mr. and Ms. Santa had there snack. Santa got oreos this year and Ms. Santa got puppy chow.
I unfortunately do not have an pictures do to the fact that my memory card doesn't want to work any more. I will go get a new one soon so we can put up our wonderful pics.
Today is also my sister, Noelle's Birthday so.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! We hope you had a wonderful Birthday.
